What are the different stages of car remapping?

Whenever you buy a car, it comes installed with the basic software that will allow the engine to function with its bear minimum. By the time you begin to fiddle your engine control unit with your trusted automotive expert, you will notice a dramatic improvement in your car's power, fuel efficiency, responsiveness and overall performance. The increase in power will depend on your engine's capacity. If you are someone who is interested in the tuning and performance of your car, you should be aware that car remapping would mean you will have better throttle response, wider torque curve, decreased turbo lag and a more exciting car to drive with. As car remapping removes unnecessary engine restrictions, your car's performance is drastically improved even without modifying your injectors, intercoolers, or exhausts. Stage 1. This is the stage that is designed specifically for your car. If you want to get standard or moderate improvements on your engine performance without needing...

Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaning

Diesel vehicles can be prone to Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) issues, the filter will block up making the vehicle go into ‘limp mode’ this is where the vehicle is constrained to a maximum speed of 40 mph, you will notice an immediate loss of power, very disconcerting if you are driving at the time and the engine management lights will all come on. Until you stop and restart your engine – do not ignore this! One of the activities that can cause a blockage in the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is ‘stop-start’ journeys with little or no motorway driving. Diesel vehicles fitted with Diesel Particle Filters for new emissions purposes, only operate and clean the particulate matter at around 70 mph in 4th or 5th gear at certain running temperatures. So when you are doing motorway miles will it clean out. If you are using cheap fuels or the wrong grade oils, e.g. not using a low ash or saps oil where recommended. This can also cause the Diesel Particle Filter to block up. It will usually r...

What is a Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner? How To Use It

Diesel Particulate Filter cleaner is designed to give your engine a good clean from the inside out. It is a chemical treatment which helps to reduce the soot emissions generated by your engine, regenerate the Diesel Particulate Filter and clean away any existing soot particles. This will result in a reduced fuel consumption overall and will help to make the DPF last for longer, delaying the need to pay for an expensive new filter. It is a great way to clean your Diesel Particulate Filter without having to remove and dismantle the filter itself and manually clean it by hand. It will increase the efficiency of the regeneration process, burning off more of the soot particles which collect in the filter and taking less time to do it. This is particularly useful for drivers who use their vehicle mainly for short distances within the city and who therefore rarely rely on passive regeneration to clean the DPF on their car. The cleaner works extremely quickly, so you won’t have to sit around ...

Managing Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Cycles

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) has been standard on diesel engines for more than a decade and helps in reducing the harmful emissions that these types of engines create. Like a catalytic converter, the DPF is part of the exhaust system and contains some sort of a substrate material. However, that is where the similarities end. Rather than burning off excess hydrocarbons as the catalytic converter does with the exhaust stream of a gasoline engine, the DPF is set up to store the soot and ash created by a diesel-fueled engine. The DPF will store this soot and ash to later burn them off during a regeneration cycle.  There are three different types of regeneration cycles that are commonly used to clean out most DPF systems – active, passive and forced. Each type of regeneration cycle needs its own specific set of conditions to occur. How they occur and the convenience of their occurrence correlates inversely with how well they clean out the DPF.  You could compare these regener...

DIGITAL TUNING BOX

HOW DOES THE DIGITAL TUNING BOX IMPROVE YOUR VEHICLE’S PERFORMANCE? Modern engine management systems rely on engine sensors to function. The digital tuning box enables the original engine management system’s settings to be refined and enhanced – even if no other mechanical modifications are carried out. The result is an expertly tuned engine that reaches its full potential in terms of power, fuel consumption, and driveability. Moreover, the digital tuning box allows the owner to fine-tune an engine’s fuel and ignition requirements. . This enables owners of modified vehicles to extract the ultimate potential from popular engine upgrades including performance induction systems. WHERE DO THESE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS COME FROM? When car manufacturers(OEM’s) develop vehicle engine management systems they make compromises to take into account the production and operating variations of the vehicle during its life. Production tolerances mean that no two vehicles are exactly the same; depend...
