MILLIONS PUT OFF CAR SERVICING OVER FEARS OF REPAIR COSTS

Millions of drivers in the UK are delaying servicing their cars because they are worried about unexpected bills to fix the problem.

That's according to a new RAC study, which shows that 47% of drivers in the UK worry they will get an unexpected bill after servicing a vehicle, and for 24% that worry is enough to delay ordering a service completely. .

That equates to about 3.8 million drivers in the UK, the crash agency said. It also shows that there may be millions of cars on country roads that are not in the best condition.

Lauren French, Product Manager for RAC MOT Assist, comments, "The best advice for any motorist is to continue to service and maintain repairs - the earlier a problem is identified, the cheaper it is to fix it."

In addition to regular service, you may want to spend some money getting your car tuned in Manchester to ensure your engine is always running at its most efficient.

The RAC study also found that more than half (52 per cent) of Britons paid more than £300 to own a car that underwent a roadworthiness test, suggesting many wait until the annual roadworthiness test to have their vehicle checked.

Earlier this year, a study by Halfords Autocentres found that a worrying 47% of drivers believed that the safety of their car would be maintained for the next 12 months after service. In addition, 42% of respondents said that they do not have their car serviced, relying solely on their service to detect possible malfunctions in their car.
