SECOND-HAND CAR SALES UP IN THE UK
The number of used cars sold rose 1 percent in the third quarter of this year compared to the previous three months, according to the latest data from the Society of Car Manufacturers and Dealers (SMMT).
This Money shares results reveal that sales of used diesel cars rose 1.4% over the same period.
In contrast, new diesel car registrations in October this year fell 28.3% compared to the same month last year.
However, looking at the registration of the different vehicle classes, there is one that stands out: the diesel model with a mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV), which is growing by 378.1% annually.
This from Money notes that it is interesting to see an increase in purchases of used diesel cars like BMW, and Audi as the government targets these types of vehicles with higher taxes. They will also be affected by the clean air zones introduced in British cities.
Karen Hilton of Heycar, a site that specializes in selling used cars, told news outlets that diesel engines are still a good choice for many people. "In the absence of a scalable solution for alternatives, solar could still be a more attractive option in many cases - especially as prices become more attractive," he said.
If you’ve got a second-hand car, you could make sure you’re getting the best out of it by taking it for car tuning in Manchester.
